Basement under construction caves in near IGI, 1 dead

One person died while two others faced injuries when the basement of an under construction hotel caved-in at the hospitality district where a numbers of hotel are coming near Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

One person died while two others faced injuries when the basement of an under construction hotel caved-in at the hospitality district where a numbers of hotel are coming near Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

The incident took place around 7pm on Monday at he plot number 11 of the hospitality district.

“The construction company had dug a big piece of land for the basement. When three labourers went in, one side of the wall collapsed and they were trapped inside. A rescue team reached there and they were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them, identified as Mushreekul (21), was declared brought dead,” a senior police officer said requesting anonymity.

A case of causing death due to negligence has been registered at the airport police station. The victim is a native of Bihar and his family members have been informed about the incident.
