According to sources, as Bedi was unaware of a number of BJP policies, her vague answers to the media had led to a negative image of the party ahead of the elections.

At a recent event organised at the Delhi BJP office, senior leaders told supporters that Bedi would not be able to address them due to a throat infection.

The party had also asked the senior leadership to hold press conferences that were so far being addressed by Bedi and the state leadership. While the former IPS officer refused to give interviews and sound bytes, she campaigned extensively on the social media, sharing her vision for Delhi, in a series of tweets.

The opposition was quick to attack Bedi, saying if the BJP could not trust its own CM candidate, how would she run the government in Delhi. Bedi got her voice back on Saturday as she outlined the BJP’s vision for women’s security.
