Profession: Sharma used to run a school in Yamuna Vihar. The Sharmas also have cultivable land in Haryana.

Education: Graduated from Shyam Lal College, DU in 1983.

Political career: Sharma was politically active from his college days. He has served in various capacities in the Pradesh Congress. He first contested the elections from Ghonda in 1993 and lost. He won twice after that, in 1998 and 2003. Sharma got the best legislator award in 2007.

Family: Wife Usha runs the family school in Yamuna Vihar. They have two sons. Sharma was a wrestling champion during his college days. He won gold medal thrice at the All India Inter University Wrestling Champion during the 80s. “Age has caught up with me. These days I only love watching wrestling on television,” he said.

Cars: He has a fleet of cars, which includes Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Getz and Ford Endeavour.
