Even mayor Rajni Abbi has stepped down from her earlier stand of complete opposition to the trifurcation and has instead focused on the shortcomings of the present draft, suggesting several modifications.

Abbi on Tuesday said that making population as the basis for trifurcation of the MCD is the latest example to prove that the Delhi government lacks foresightedness and a vision for the citizens of Delhi. She has also demanded a Mayor-in-Council who will head the three corporations.

At a meeting of BJP legislative party, almost all the BJP MLAs had said that the party should not oppose the Bill.
