Challenging the SP supremo Mulayam Singh to withdraw support to the UPA, the BJP wondered on Friday why he was not pulling the plug on the Congress if he thought it was deceitful. It also rejected Yadav’s suggestion of the formation of a third front, saying the idea held no promise.

“Mulayam Singh has said the Congress is deceitful and has misused the CBI and I-T department. There was an ad which said: kuchh lete kyon nahin (why don’t you take something). We would also like to ask him: Congress ko chhorte kyon nahin (why don’t you pull the plug on the Congress)?” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

Saying that the UPA was in a minority, Prasad said the PM wouldn’t be able to push any reforms, which he had promised. He added: "This government will now be able to breathe only through manipulation, management and machinations." Saying the Prime Minister shouldn’t think of another term, he added that the nation wanted the UPA out because of nine years of Congress misrule, which had today resulted in the highest current account deficit.

The BJP leader also practically rejected the possibility of the BJP doing business with the SP. “We don’t use the term untouchability because we have been victims of it. But there are fundamental differences between us and the SP. We never had a relation with them, we don’t have it and we don’t see any possibility of relations with them.”
