BJP demands CAG-CBI probe into Games Village project
Questioning the bailout package of Rs 760 crore given to Games Village developer Emaar-MGF, BJP today demanded a joint probe by CAG and CBI into the alleged irregularities in the entire project.
Questioning the bailout package of Rs 760 crore given to Games Village developer Emaar-MGF, BJP on Monday demanded a joint probe by CAG and CBI into the alleged irregularities in the entire project.

Citing "contradiction" in government's stand on the Games Village, Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta said while on the one hand, it is said to be of international standard, bank guarantee of Rs 183 crore furnished by its developer Emaar-MGF is being confiscated on the other.
"The Games Village has been described as of international standard by Sports Minister M S Gill, Organising Committee and Sheila Dikshit. Then why are you confiscating the bank gurantee. There are lot of unanswered questions," he said demanding a thorough probe into the charges.
Alleging that the developer constructed more flats than the originally permitted number, Gupta questioned why the DDA officials did not stop the company from flouting conditions of the agreement.
"Why the DDA offered the bailout package to Emaar-MGF when the company expressed its inability to complete the project. How DDA will recover the amount? Why the firm was given undue favour? We demand a joint probe by CBI and CAG to unearth the irregularities," he said.
Gupta also demanded a detailed probe into alleged bunglings in the renovation of Yamuna Sports complex.
In the run-up to the Games, the DDA had given a financial package of Rs 760 crore to Emaar-MGF for completion of the Games Village project.
The Government last week had ordered confiscation of Rs 183 crore furnished by the company as bank guarantee and initiation of legal action for "deficiencies" and "delays" in construction of the Games Village.
