Accusing Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of showing "favouritism" in awarding Commonwealth Games project contracts, BJP on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged corruption and misuse of position.

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta alleged there was favouritism in contracts and misuse of position by Dikshit and said there was a need for a "high level, impartial and time-bound inquiry into it".
There is a need for ordering a CBI inquiry into alleged "corruption, misuse of position and bungling in CWG" against Dikshit, he said.
"The Prime Minister himself should issue orders for a detailed CBI enquiry into all the 77 projects completed by Delhi government," Gupta said in the letter.
Gupta claimed that Dikshit restricted the powers of Finance Minister A K Walia and assumed more powers to aid corruption.
"Only the Finance Minister could award contracts up to Rs 50 crores but the Chief Minister also awarded contracts for less than 50 crores," Gupta claimed.
