BJP on Sunday reached a seat-sharing agreement with JD(U) and RLD in Uttar Pradesh, alloting nine seats to its NDA allies in the politically crucial state having 80 Lok Sabha constituencies.

As per the agreement, JD(U) will contest two seats and RLD will field candidates in seven constituencies in UP, BJP President Rajnath Singh announced in New Delhi.
Earlier, JD(U) had demanded three seats but BJP has decided to field its own candidate in Meerut, leaving the Nitish Kumar-led party with Salempur and Badaun seats. RLD will contest seven seats. RLD chief Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary will contest from Mathura.
Other seats alloted are Hatras, Nagina, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Amroha and Bijnore. The two NDA allies were also eyeing Saharanpur and Sambal, but the BJP has decided to field its own candidates in these seats.
