"Judiciary in any state is appointed by the Collegium of the Supreme Court. Modi has raised the issue of suspecting a state's judiciary by shifting the case to another state. We understand his views," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters here.

She was asked to comment on the statement of Modi that the move was an insult to the judiciary of the state.

The CBI, in its plea before the apex court, has demanded that the case be shifted outside the state on the ground that the atmosphere is "not conducive" in the state.

"Do you not consider Gujarat as a part of India? Why is Gujarat being treated as if it was part of an enemy state. Are judges of Gujarat useless. Other courts of the country are good, but courts in Gujarat are bad," Modi said in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
