Councillor Narender Bindal from Guru Harkishan Nagar ward of the MCD west zone had been indicted by the Lokayukta on June 17 for giving pensions to those who subscribed to a particular magazine.

“We have forwarded his case to the discipline committee and till then he will remain suspended. The committee will inquire into the case and submit its recommendation to the state president,” said Vijendra Gupta, Delhi BJP chief.

The Lokayukta has also recommended that the matter of indictment should be publicised by displaying notices in his area.

The Lokayukta had received a complaint that Bindal had allegedly released pension only to those who were willing to take the annual subscription of Rs1,100 for a magazine.

The Opposition in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has demand that an FIR should be registered against Bindal. “BJP sat on a hunger strike against corruption but their own people are reaching new heights of corruption,” said JK Sharma, leader of the Opposition.
