Blueline victim’s wife hangs self

A woman in her twenties commits suicide being crushed by a rogue Blueline near the Nizamuddin station, reports Vijaita Singh.

A Blueline death is more than just another name being added to the long list of those killed on Delhi’s roads by the private bus fleet. Each of those deaths cripples an entire family — and at times kills. As it happened on Monday.

A woman in her twenties committed suicide less than 24 hours after she saw her husband — and the sole breadwinner of her family — being crushed by a rogue Blueline near the Nizamuddin station.

Dalia Bibi hanged herself to death at the Trauma Centre of the AIIMS, where she had gone to claim the body of her husband.

Her three-month-old daughter was found crying in the corridor of the hospital — draped in a piece of cloth and all alone. Dalia’s brother-in-law, her only relative in the city, was running around completing the formalities.

Dalia and her husband, Aqueed Ali, with the baby in their arms, had reached Delhi in search of livelihood from New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal only on Sunday. The couple were daily-wage labourers.

Police said that Dalia could not understand Hindi and she had problems communicating. On Monday, around 5.30 pm, she went to the toilet of the Trauma Centre and hanged herself with her dupatta.

No suicide note, only her train ticket, was found on her.
