Boy who saw it all wants to start afresh

The 15-year-old son of Mamta, who was rescued along with her family on Saturday from a Rohini flat, has seen it all. From his father deserting his mother to his mother's indifferent behaviour, the young boy had a bitter experience of life.

"He has never felt happiness but he is very much aware of the situation around him. After a point in time, Mamta stopped recognising and talking to him. Nirja was his friend and he used to chat with her," Neeraj Gupta, Mamta's cousin said. The family had discontinued his studies as they did not have money.

"Nirmala Devi, the boy's grandmother, had recently gone to Sarvodaya School, where the boy was studying, and told the teachers that they don't want him to continue. He used to came out in the evening to play with colony children," Kunal, a neighbour said.

"He is not liking this unwanted attention. He has spoken to us and said he want a better life for all four of them," Neeraj said. He blamed Mamta's husband for the misfortunes that befallen the family. "Her husband abused her and deserted her. Police should trace him and punish him for harassment," he added.
