BPOs don’t love Millennium City anymore

The city has slipped three slots since last year — from fifth to eighth — in the order of preference among BPOs.

Bengaluru, which was ranked second last year, has moved up to first position by displacing Chennai to second.

These are the findings of the fifth annual survey done by Dun & Bradstreet, a global business information firm.

The survey, India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies 2009, is based on “the number of offices and delivery stations of various ITeS and BPO companies, and the feedback from the 166 respondent companies.”

“Besides the number of offices and delivery stations, the study was also based on the feedback from respondents following a set of parameters, such as infrastructure,” said Sanketh Arouje, leader, operations, Dun & Bradstreet.

Genpact emerged as the company with highest employee base in India, followed by Aegis, Firstsource, WNS and others.

“Gurgaon has slipped from the fifth rank as the preferred location in our 2008 study, to eighth rank in our 2009 study.
Hyderabad, Delhi and Kolkata that followed Gurgaon in 2008, on sixth, seventh and eighth ranks respectively, strengthened
their position by scaling one rank each in 2009,” the study stated.

The study found that tier-II cities like Noida, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Mangaluru and Vizag retained their 2008 ranks — ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth respectively.
