Four days after he was assaulted along with his three colleagues by a Lajpat Nagar resident and his associates when they went to collect the payment for a long-pending electricity bill, a 32-year-old BSES employee has alleged he was threatened inside the intensive care unit of AIIMS Trauma Centre by two unidentified miscreants on Saturday.

Confirming the incident, a BSES spokesperson said the miscreants used foul language and asked the employee, Sahab Singh, to take Rs 50,000 and withdraw a case registered against the main accused, Subhash Saluja, at the Lajpat Nagar police station over the issue of assaulting BSES employees.

“On Saturday evening, two goons entered the ICU where Singh is recuperating, and threatened him with dire consequences. They even removed his oxygen pipe before leaving the hospital premises,” said the BSES spokesperson.

A fresh complaint regarding the threatening incident has been made with the Lajpat Nagar police. The BSES has deployed three security guards at the hospital.

Singh’s cousin, Hukum Singh, told police that he was outside the ICU when the miscreants, claiming to be visitors, entered the ICU and asked the hospital staff to discharge Singh as the earliest.

“The miscreants also threatened Hukum Singh and asked him to withdraw their case,” another BSES employee said.

On Thursday, Singh and his three colleagues - Devendra Kumar, Pawan Kumar and Vijay Pratap - went to recover a payment of Rs 91,400 from the accused Subhash Saluja’s house in F block Lajpat Nagar.

Saluja and his family were away and since they did not pay the bill despite repeated reminders, the BSES employees disconnected the electricity connection to his house.
