BSP to announce remaining nominations soon

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) that has already announced 66 of the 70 seats it plans to contest in Delhi would be announcing the remaining four within two days. The party wants to make a breakthrough in Delhi assembly elections after garnering 9.9 per cent vote in the MCD elections held last year. BSP is the first party to announce candidates for majority of seats so soon.

“We had already announced the names of the 66 candidates and the remaining four will also be made public within two days time,” said BSP’s Delhi unit head, Brahm Singh Bidhuri. When quizzed on the party’s preparation for the elections, Bidhuri remained tight-lipped. “Candidates have started preparing for the elections rest will become visible as the polls draw nearer,” added Bidhuri, who will be contesting from Okhla.

While BSP candidates whose names have been announced by the party have started door-to-door campaigning for the elections, but many are still unsure of their names getting striked out at the last moment by UP chief minister Mayawati.

“We have been campaigning door to door, but things will only be certain after the nominations on November 4. We will be able to talk about our election related activities only after that,” said Parmanand Kansotia, who will be contesting from Karol Bagh, a reserved seat. In Karol Bagh there are 20 per cent people belonging to Other Backward Caste (OBC).
