The Union cabinet is likely to consider an amendment to Education Tribunal Bill, 2010, on Tuesday to make the proposed law agreeable to opposition parties in Parliament.

The bill and other education reform proposals had got stuck in Rajya Sabh with members of Parliament opposing them on the ground that they infringed the country’s federal structure.
Now, the HRD ministry after fresh round of consultations with the state government has proposed some amendments to the Education Tribunal Bill, which aims at setting up quasi judicial body to deal with all disputes related to education sector, including complaints of capitation fees.
The cabinet will also consider the HRD ministry’s proposal to set up two Central Universities in Bihar, one in Motihari and another in Gaya. The ministry has proposed amendment in the Central Universities Act to develop two central universities, which could, end the political impasse over starting a Central University in Bihar.
