Although light drizzle on Wednesday evening brought the much-needed respite from heat, Delhiites continued to reel under severe heat on Thursday with hot wind making lives difficult for commuters.

At 42.2 degrees Celsius, the the maximum temperature on Thursday was three notches above average.

However, the city can expect some relief as the Met office has predicted thundershowers on Friday.

"The skies will remain partly cloudy tomorrow (Friday) and there is a possibility of duststorm accompanied by rain in some parts of the city," an official of the India Meteorological Department said. However, according to the weatherman, the temperatures are unlikely to drop much.

Suggesting a substantial increase in night temperatures, the minimum settled at 28.8 degrees celsius, which is four degrees more than normal, the MeT office said.
