Car plays spoilsport in kidnappers’ bid to abduct 11-yr-old

Three abductors, all untraceable, used a Nano car to kidnap Harish Sinha, a class 6 student, from outside his house in Shalimar Garden on Saturday evening.

Although some locals gave chase on their bikes, the car turned towards Nand Nagri area of Delhi and then again entered Ghaziabad and proceeded towards the Mohan Nagar road towards the old Hindon-bridge.

Meanwhile, police was also alerted and the cops easily identified the Nano car due to its unique features and design and followed it towards the Raj Nagar Extension area over an under-construction bridge. “When police was chasing the abductors, they turned towards the under-construction bridge and reached a dead-end. They left their car and also the minor boy behind and escaped amid thick vegetation near river Hindon. The child was rescued,” circle-officer (CO) Arvind Kumar Yadav told Hindustan Times.

After his rescue, the child told Hindustan Times that the men had hit him with a car-jack over his head. “They were asking about the salary of my father and also whether I knew swimming. I declined to answer their questions and when I asked them where they were taking me, they said you will come to know in another hour,” said Harish.

Police said they recovered several alcohol bottles from the car and also the bag left behind by the abductors. The car was also seized. Harish’s father works at a private company as a manager.
