At 3:15am, policemen were patrolling in their personal vehicle when they saw two men fleeing with a stolen Tata Safari.

When intercepted, the thieves threatened to fire at the police personnel and fled with the vehicle. To stop them, the police personnel fired at the vehicle's tyre, forcing the men to flee after leaving the car behind. “Our men were patrolling when they noticed an SUV with a missing window glass next to the driver's seat,” a senior police officer said.

A Honda city car was following the SUV and instead of stopping, both the vehicles took a U-turn to flee. “The sub-inspector on patrolling duty could hear them saying ‘shoot the cops’ and immediately took out his gun. As they were fleeing, he fired at the tyre that forced them to abandon the vehicle,” he added.

Several teams have been formed to trace the owner of the Honda City and police are suspecting that this was also a stolen vehicle.
