Ruling out the possibility of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and finance minister P Chidambaram appearing before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the 2G scam, panel chief PC Chacko also rejected former finance minister Yashwant Sinha's offer to come as a witness.

Sinha had earlier offered to depose in an attempt to strengthen his demand for calling the PM and the FM.
In his latest letter to Sinha, Chacko rejected his offer to avoid inclusion of a member "who has a personal, pecuniary or direct interest that may prejudicially affect the consideration of matters" as witness.
While the BJP members are gearing up to return after boycotting the last few meetings, Chacko pointed out that there is no consensus in the panel for calling the PM and FM.
In his letter Chacko said the list of witnesses — the key area of contention — had 'more or less' been finalised.
“The contentious witnesses would be ministers for which we do not take consensus or mandate,” the letter said.
Hitting out at Sinha, Chacko said, “I have resolved to seek collective wisdom and consensus of the committee.”
