The much-awaited check-in facility for international flyers started at the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations of the Airport Metro Express on Thursday, the day it completed one year of operation.

Three airlines, Air India, Kingfisher and Jet Airways, have opened their check-in counters at these stations for international flyers. Other airlines would start the facility soon, said Reliance Infrastructure, the concessionaire company.
Though the response was poor on the inaugural day — only seven international flyers availed the facility at the New Delhi station till afternoon — the company officials believe that it would be a hit in a few days.
“Around 200 domestic flyers check in through the facility at the Airport Metro stations daily. We expect that the number of international flyers using the facility goes much higher than domestic commuters,” said a company official.
“The international check-in service at the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations will help international flyers get rid of long queues at the airport. They can collect their boarding passes at the Airport Express Metro station itself and go for security checks at the airport, hassle-free,” said Anil P Gupta, president of Reliance Infrastructure.
