During the 30-minute meeting, Singh apprised Chidambaram about the steps being taken to deal with Maoists and the development that the state proposes to initiate with the help of the Central government.
"The Home Minister assured me to provide all necessary help to deal with the Naxals. He told me that a few battalions of para-military forces would be made available to Chhattisgarh soon after their withdrawal from Jharkhand where they were deployed for election duties," Singh told reporters.
The Chief Minister said he would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and seek financial assistance for the development of the state.
