Cleanliness drive sweeps Delhi

With an aim to generate awareness about cleanliness and sanitation and invite civic partnership in keeping public places clean, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna launched the Amala Bharatam Campaign (Clean India Drive) on Sunday.

Khanna said rather than just discussing if people are motivated enough to get involved in the cleanliness drive, the drive will help spread the message among many more people.

Delhi finance and urban development minister AK Walia and Swamy Amritswar-upananda, vice-chairman,

Board of Trustees, Mata Amritanandamayi Math were also present at the drive, held by Mata Amritanandamayi Math and Shanti Kunj, Vasant Vihar.

Khanna appealed to the people to take a vow to clean their surroundings.

He said the campaign would help construct toilets in government schools that lack such facilities. The campaign also aims at cleaning public places and national highways.
