He rounded up friends Edisson Maurieio and Carlos Alfanso - and woman friend Monica Yulietch - all experts in house-breaking, bought heavy-duty bolt-cutters from the nearest Wal-Mart and booked economy class tickets for a 19-hour flight to Delhi.
The 31-one-year-old jobless youth arrived in India on March 10, armed with the tools of his trade, and soon began breaking into south Delhi homes.
The Saket police arrested Jaidiber and his three friends on Wednesday.
HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner (south), said the Colombian gang had committed at least two burglaries in the area.
Dhaliwal said, "Edier Jaidiber from Bogotá was apprehended from Saket after he was found moving suspiciously with a bag, containing ornaments and house-breaking equipment."
Jaidiber and his friends had allegedly broken into two houses in the Saket area on Sunday and Tuesday.
The police recovered Rs 1.56 lakh in cash, Rs 15 lakh in jewellery and housebreaking equipment from the Colombian gang.
