Top leadership of Congress, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party chief Sonia Gandhi, met on Saturday to finalise the name for the post of the Lok Sabha Speaker.
The meeting of the Congress Core Group was held at the residence of the Prime Minister this afternoon.

Besides Gandhi and Singh, other leaders who attended the meeting included Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Defence Minister AK Antony.
Kishore Chandra Deo, a senior Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh, is the front runner for the post.
The Congress leadership also discussed whether the post of Deputy Speakership should be given to the Opposition as per convention or to some ally.
