Congress expelled seven of its party members on Saturday for contesting against the official party candidates in the coming Delhi Assembly elections.

Former Congress MLAs and municipal councillors like Satbir Singh, Roopchand and Ram Singh Netaji had filed their nominations as independent candidates after being denied official tickets from the party.
The decision was announced by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president J.P. Aggarwal on Saturday at Rajiv Bhawan, the Committee office. “We wanted to send a strong message that anti-party activities will not be tolerated. Hence they have been expelled as per party norms,” Aggarwal added.
Former Mayor and present municipal councillor Satbir Singh is contesting from Mehrauli as an Independent against Congress nominee and Health Minister Yoganand Shastri.
DPCC vice president Ajit Singh Chadha is contesting from Tilak Nagar against official candidate Anita Babbar.
Former MLAs Roopchand, who is contesting against party candidate Baljor Singh in the Gokulpur constituency, and Ram Singh Netaji, who filed the nomination against sitting MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri from the Badarpur seat, have been ousted from the party.
