Seeking to put to rest queries raised on the issue of the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Congress today said it has an established principle to elect a new leader.
Asked about the various contenders emerging for the top post in the state and whether it was a 'ticklish' issue, Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters, "all the victorious MLAs will sit together, discuss and elect the new leader in consultation with the high command".
Singhvi said, "the Congress policy (on electing its CLP leader) is the same which is validated election after election. We have a well established principle. The Congress policy does not change. This policy of the party has been successful and would remain so".
The spokesman asked other parties, where there is internal squabble, to take lessons from the Congress in electing their leader.
Singhvi also said the party was confident of forming government in all the three states which went to polls on October 13.
"Congress will emerge victorious in each of the three states, which are in different corners of the country. This will show that Congress is the only inclusive movement in the country," Singhvi said, adding, all critics would fall silent.
