Frustrated with the attitude of his seniors, a depressed traffic police constable tried ending his life by jumping off a 52-metre high tower at Airport express metro's New Delhi station on Monday.

Reportedly upset over the rejection of his medical leave application, Dayanand, a Delhi traffic police constable climbed a generator silencer tower at 2.30 pm on Monday.
After two hours of cajoling by senior police officers, Dayanand agreed to climb down.
"My medical leave application was rejected and I was marked absent for two months. I didn't even get the salary. I don't even have enough money to pay my medical bills. The insensitive behaviour of my senior officers forced me to take this drastic step," said a visbily-depressed Dayanand from atop the tower.
Dayanand has been with the department for over 20 years and is currently posted with the Gandhi Nagar circle of Delhi traffic police.
"We are aware of this matter. Apparently, this man was unwell. I have asked the concerned DCP to look into the matter," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
