One such case is the state of Coronation park, located at Burari road near Nirankari Sarovar.

On December 12, 1911 King George V announced the transfer of India's capital from Calcutta to Delhi and with Queen Mary laying down the foundation stone for Viceroy's residence in Coronation park.

But today, this cultural heritage remains woefully neglected by both central and the state government. Weeds and poddles of rain water make the situation even worst.

"Earlier the maintenance responsibility was in the hand of CPWD but from this year DDA has taken the control of this park", Kali Ram, the caretaker of this park told Hindustan Times.

"Passing the buck is not the solution. It's high time that heritage sites like this should be preserved for the future generation", opines Kriti Verma, an aspiring journalist.

Bhawna Sharma, a schoolteacher also agreed to the crying need for its upkeep, "It should be the duty of our government to send the recommendation of this park as a world heritage site to world heritage center so they will help us to preserve the important part of our history"
