Welcoming the HC’s judgment, S K Garg, principal, Deen Dayal Upadhaya College said, “The court has taken care of the students’ interest and simultaneously given importance to the national agenda of academic reforms.”

Students, though relieved, are also concerned about how and when the first semester exams will be held. “Though one does not know how, even with the postponement of examinations, the courses will be completed in such a short time but the decision is a welcome relief from the uncertainty about annual or semester mode,” said Kajori Sengupta, a first-year student of Physics (honours).

On the issue of postponement of exams, some principals said exams should be held for those courses that have been taught properly under the semester system. “It is not as if no teaching has taken place. Some courses have been taught in the semester mode and are on track. So, it is only fair that separate schedules are drawn for separate courses instead of postponing the examinations for all courses,” suggested Pratibha Jolly, principal, Miranda House.
