A day after the crime branch was handed over the investigation of constable Subhash Chand Tomar's death, it summoned two of the three eyewitnesses on Thursday for questioning.

The inter-state cell (ISC) of crime branch on Thursday morning telephoned the three eyewitnesses - Yogendra, Pauline and Salim Alvi, and asked them record their statements. While Yogendra and Alvi appeared before the investigators at their Chanakyapuri office, Pauline did not turn up.

While Alvi reached the ISC office around 2.30pm, Yogendra reached around 3pm. "I am not under any pressure. I will tell the crime branch officers what I have been saying till now," Yogendra, in his 20s, said.

SBS Tyagi, DCP (crime), said, "We have taken the statements of the two eyewitnesses which will be corroborated with evidence to establish their authenticity. The statement of the third eyewitness will also be recorded and examined. If found authentic, their statements will be recorded before a magistrate."

Investigators have also asked TS Sidhu, medical superintendent of RML hospital, to provide medical reports of the dead constable who was admitted there after he collapsed.

Meanwhile police are also trying to recreate the sequence of events that lead to Tomar's death with the help of CCTV footage available and by examining video tapes of TV channels. Sources said that CCTVs installed near the spot where he collapsed only have footage showing him being lifted in a police vehicle by five-six persons.
