The Delhi high court on Friday transferred the investigation into the murder of IT student Shobhit Modi, fatally stabbed near his south Delhi residence six months ago, to the crime branch of Delhi Police.
Justice Mukta Gupta declined a plea by Shobhit's father Suraj Modi to transfer the investigation from Delhi Police to CBI.
"The investigation (is) to be carried out by the crime branch of Delhi Police under the direct supervision of the DCP concerned," Justice Gupta said.

Twenty-year-old Shobhit, a student of Manav Rachna University in Faridabad, was fatally stabbed by unknown persons near his Vasant Kunj residence on May 5, this year.
Shobhit's father had filed a petition in the high court, seeking transfer of the case to the CBI, alleging that the police has failed to find any clue about the culprits although it was given all evidence, including Shobhit's laptop and mobile phone data.
Meanwhile, accusing the father and brother of Shobhit's girlfriend of being involved in his murder, the slain youth's family had alleged that the city police was ignoring vital leads in the case, including the contents of SMSes exchanged between the victim and his girlfriend.
