Two of them survived the crash but are unconscious. The police are hoping that the duo would provide a sequence of events that led to the accident.

Vikas Berewa, a 20-year-old resident of Madangir, and Vipul Garg, who is from Yamuna Nagar in Haryana, were admitted to a private hospital in Saket.

A doctor at the hospital said both the injured were on ventilator and had showed few signs of recovery.

“Only they can tell us the sequence of events and who was behind the wheel at the time of accident,” a senior police officer said. “They are not yet fit to give a statement and it is unlikely that they can talk to us in the next few days.”

The police said Berewa and Garg, with friends Vikas Sharma, his cousin Akash Sharma and Mayank Pratap Chauhan, had borrowed the car from Nikhil Deswal, a fellow party-goer.

The party was at a farmhouse in Chattarpur and the group had left to get food around 2am.

Nikhil told the police that as he was asleep when Chauhan left with the car keys, he had no information about it.

The police have arrested the owner of the bus, Naseer Ahmad, for causing death by negligence as he had parked the vehicle on the roadside.
