Delhi and its surrounding towns were robbed of the rains for the second consecutive day on Thursday, when the Met department had forecast pre-monsoon showers. The weatherman now holds out hopes of relief over the weekend.

"We are expecting pre-monsoon showers to hit the city on Friday and Saturday. The advance of the monsoon over Uttar Pradesh has been slow and we are hoping Delhi will receive monsoon rains by Sunday or Monday," a senior Met official said.
The temperature, too, is expected to come down, with Friday expected to see a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius.
But keep your fingers crossed because the last two forecasts by the Met department have not been accurate.
Monsoon rains are normally expected in Delhi by June 29 every year but this time the Capital remains hot and humid even a week after the customary date.
