To provide better living conditions to its personnel, the Delhi Police are in the process of constructing a township in Dheerpur in north-west Delhi.

The project with over 5,000 houses will come up on a public-private partnership (PPP) model and will have amenities like malls and schools.

“There is a proposal for a police housing scheme on 60acres of land in northwest Delhi. The land was purchased from Delhi Jal Board; the location is ideal for a housing scheme,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity.

Sources said the builder would construct flats and provide amenities like schools, community facilities, dispensary, shopping complex and parking.

The first stage of the bidding process (request for qualification) has been completed and bidders have been short-listed for the second stage (request for proposal) of bidding.

The proposed complex, to be built at a cost of about Rs 1,700 crore, will have 5,202 flats of various categories to cater to different ranks of personnel.
