Delhi suffered yet another round of power cuts on Monday. There was no respite from humidity either as the temperature touched 41.6 degree Celsius, two degrees above normal.

The power department attributed the power cuts to shortage of supply in the northern grid. The grid faced power shortage to the tune of 3,000 MW.
Power distribution companies aimed to meet the shortage in power supply by load-shedding.
June 6 saw the highest power demand in the past ten years as the demand reached 5642 MW.
“Power demand has broken all previous records this year and we are anticipating it to cross 6,000 MW, which will be very difficult to meet,” said a senior power department official.
Areas such as Panchshil Park, Kailash Colony, Greater Kailash, Pandav Nagar, Prasad Nagar, Dwarak, Mukherjee Nagar, Rohini, Pitampura, among others faced power cuts throughout the day.
