Delhi trader carjacked for 3 hours in Muzaffarnagar

A trip through Muzaffarnagar turned nightmarish for a Delhi-based trader’s family, when they were carjacked by criminals seeking ransom. The drama lasted for about three hours before the police sprung into action and the miscreants escaped, leaving the family behind.

According to sources, Rajesh Verma, a resident of Karol Bagh in New Delhi, was on his way to Dehradun with his wife Anjana and son Tarun (11). While they were passing through Mansoorpur area of Muzaffarnagar, their car hit a bicycle rider.

Subsequently, a Swift car with four passengers, including one in police uniform with a gun started chasing them and intercepted their vehicle at Begrajpur.

The miscreants told the family that the cyclist had been seriously injured. They caught hold of the driver Munnu and forced him inside their car. One of the criminals got into the driver’s seat of the trader’s car. However, instead of returning to the spot of the collision, the carjackers demanded Rs 2.5 lakh ransom from the family to allow them to proceed to Dehradun. The drama continued from about 1.45 pm to 4.45pm, after which the criminals left the trader’s family at Ghasmandi crossing but took driver Munnu with them.
