Failing to take a decision on development charges and land cost to be collected from each household in unauthorised colonies, Delhi Cabinet on Monday formed a four-member committee to chalk out a final proposal.

Headed by Delhi finance and urban development minister, the committee — comprising development minister Rajkumar Chauhan, social welfare minister Mangat Ram Singhal and education minister Arvinder Singh — would again talk to the various civic agencies and re-work the development charges.
"The cabinet is of the view that the development charges proposed by various agencies are very high. A committee has been formed and we will submit our report within a fortnight," Delhi urban development minister Ashok Kumar Walia said.
According to Walia, the civic agencies had submitted their rates in 2008 at which they intended to collect development charges from each household in unauthroised colonies to carry out developments.
