After Banerjee's recent critical comments where she described the UPA government as suffering from brain-death, Ramesh shot a letter on Saturday declaring release of funds for rural job projects in Bengal and added his gesture "reflects how sensitive the so-called brain-dead government in Delhi is to the needs of people of West Bengal."

Within hours of receiving the letter, a furious Banerjee resorted to her Facebook account and slammed Ramesh while questioning the attitude of the Centre towards her state.

"The statement is clearly vindictive, unethical and unconstitutional. I am really stunned to see that a Union minister can write a distasteful statement like this to a state government. This creates a bad precedence and adds stigma to healthy democratic fibre of our country" Banerjee posted on Facebook.

The CM reminded releasing funds for the central schemes is not a matter of charity but pure governmental activity she pointed out, "Good and effective governance deserves a clear delineation of governmental activity and political activity."
