Digvijaya not our spokesperson: Congress

In a clear snub to AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh for his remarks against TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Congress today said that he was "not officially authorised" to speak to the media.

Keen not to further alienate Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee, the Congress on Monday disowned its leader Digvijaya Singh’s recent remarks against her.



Days after Mamata rejected the Congress’s choice of Pranab Mukherjee as its presidential candidate, Singh described her in TV interviews as “immature” and “erratic”, adding that there was a limit to the party’s patience.

The Congress distanced itself from the remarks, saying, “Digvijaya Singh is not officially authorised to speak on behalf of the party.”
