‘Don’t acquire land till Bill is passed’

The five-kilometer padyatra (foot march) by BJP leader Rajnath Singh in three villages, including Ullawas where 5.1 acre of land was given by the state government to the Rajiv Gandhi Cheritable Trust for setting up a hospital, on Friday fuelled a movement in the state.

The five-kilometer padyatra (foot march) by BJP leader Rajnath Singh in three villages, including Ullawas where 5.1 acre of land was given by the state government to the Rajiv Gandhi Cheritable Trust for setting up a hospital, on Friday fuelled a movement in the state.

Farmers said the Haryana government released the acquired land in violation of the Haryana Land Acquisition of Act. The developers purchased land from them at below market rates.

TheBJP leader said that the Central government should ask all states to suspend land acquisition process unless the proposed National Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Settlement Bill 2011 is passed in the ongoing session of the parliament. He also demanded that the date for inviting suggestions on the bill should be preponed before August 31 and bill be passed before September 8.
