Stored water may have seen many Delhiites through Friday, but Saturday will be tougher.

Large parts of the city will go without water today, as two water treatment plants at Haiderpur and Nangloi have been shut down for some operational work.
“Instead of two hours, the water supply on Friday lasted only 45 minutes,” said DM Narang, general secretary of New Rajinder Nagar resident welfare association.
“On Saturday, if we don’t get the morning supply it will be difficult to manage,” he said.
Residents will have to rely on packaged water or tanker services provided by Delhi Jal Board (DJB). “We sent text messages to all the residents of the area to inform them about the water shortage. The morning supply on Friday enabled us to store water. We don’t know what we will do on Saturday, as DJB’s tanker service is very ineffective,” said Pankaj Aggarwal, a resident of Safdarjung Enclave.
The 200 million gallons per day (MGD) Haiderpur plant and the 40 MGD Nangloi plant will remain waterless on Saturday because the sub-branch of the water canal that supplies raw water to them will be closed.
Haryana had requested Delhi to close the canal for a day because it will be constructing culverts to lay a pipeline.
