Drunk British passenger breaches IGI security with streak show

A drunk British passenger created quite a ruckus at IGI’s T3 terminal early Saturday when he managed to get past security gates and run across the aircraft parking area, where he took off his clothes and started dancing.

A drunk British passenger created quite a ruckus at IGI’s T3 terminal early Saturday when he managed to get past security gates and run across the aircraft parking area, where he took off his clothes and started dancing. Though bizarre, the incident was a major breach of airport security.

The 45-year-old man, identified only as Daniel, arrived at T3 from London around 4.30am and had a stopover before his connecting flight to Tokyo in the evening. During his layover, he went to one of the restaurants at the terminal’s food court and got drunk, police said.

In an inebriated state, Daniel broke a fire alarm box that immediately unlocked a nearby fire exit through which he made his way to the runway area, police said.

He also reportedly tried to get on another flight that was open for boarding, but CISF personnel denied the reports and said the man was apprehended much before he reached anywhere near the boarding area.

“This is a major breach of airport security. Since the incident happened in the early hours and there were not too many passengers in the airport, major chaos was averted,” said a senior airport official.

Airport authorities confirmed Daniel was allowed to take his flight to Tokyo in the evening after he had sobered up.
