With protesters enforcing the bandh in the capital targetting DTC buses, the government on Monday decided not to ply buses in affected areas if the situation so warranted.

"I have asked the officials to review the situation and where required not allow the buses to ply in the affected areas to prevent damage," Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf said.

He also appealed the demonstrators to restrain from damaging public property. "It is the nation's loss. The damage would only hamper smooth services," Yusuf said.

Six DTC buses were torched in Aya Nagar, Jasola, Dera, Usmanpur and Wazirabad, while some buses were damaged in Khajoori Khas in Northeast Delhi and at Patparganj in East Delhi, police said.
