A day after the Delhi police wrote to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to let policemen travel free on the state-run buses or issue them concessional passes, the Delhi transport minister Ramakant Goswami said the officials have been told to work out a plan.

"The decision of not allowing anyone to take a free ride in DTC buses is not mine but of the cabinet's. Now that the Delhi police officers have asked that their personnel should travel free on buses and are ready to find an alternative arrangement with us, we will soon work out a plan," Goswami said.
In a recent drive against ticketless travellers, DTC's team found 800 government servants travelling without tickets in just five days and majority of them were Delhi police personnel.
In a letter to DTC, special commissioner (administration) BS Bassi has suggested to either let police personnel travel free or they must be issued a concessional all-route pass at an annual cost of Rs 600.
