The race to grab the Indian Air Force's $10 billion tender for 126 fighter aircraft is getting hotter. Ahead of the April 28 deadline for submitting the technical and commercial bids for the colossal contract, EADS Defence and Security has invited India to become a partner of the Eurofighter programme.

Eurofighter Typhoon (a consortium of British, German, Spanish and Italian companies) is competing with international vendors such as MiG Corporation (MiG-35), Gripen International (JAS-39), Lockheed Martin (F-16 Fighting Falcon), Boeing (F/A-18 Super Hornet) and Dassault Aviation (Rafale).
Pitching for the Eurofighter Typhoon, German ambassador Bernd Muetzelburg said, "The proposed partnership is not just about combat aircraft. It is about comprehensive engagement between India and four European nations. It will lead to transfer of technology and building capacity in India.
