An anti-immigrant group that has popped up on Facebook has 65,000 members and is growing rapidly. The group says loud and clear, “Australia is full”.

A poster uploaded on it incites Australians to stand up against “Curry Munching Idiots” and endorses the attacks on Indians by calling them “frustration driven due to their foolish traits and culture” The poster ends with: “Drive all the immigrants out and make Australia clean.”

The appearance of this hate-group has been extensively covered by the Australian media. Most commentators slammed it as ‘stupid’, ‘surprising’ and ‘depressing’.

Many demanded shutting down the group but a Facebook spokeswoman stated, “Social networking sites are places where people can openly discuss issues and express their views.” But she admitted Facebook sometimes find people posting topics that others may find ‘controversial, inaccurate or even offensive’ and racism wouldn’t be “tolerated”.
