Although the Crime branch team wants to interrogate him in the hospital, the court has sought doctor’s opinion before allowing them to do so.

The main accused in the racket, Daya Shankar Misra, a master degree holder in pharmacology from a reputed Rajasthan college, fell ill soon after the arrest.

Police sources said fake medicines worth R8 crore are in the market and to know who all (chemists ) have procured these medicines, Misra’s interrogation is important.

“We had requested the court to allow us to interrogate him in the hospital, but according to doctor’s report he is unfit.

Now, the onus is on the doctor, as he has to conduct another medical examination,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.

“To identify chemists who had purchased these medicines from Bhagirath Place is very important, as lot many customers must be buying these medicines. To seize spurious medicines is our priority and that is why we are insisting on interrogation of Misra,” the officer added.

On Thursday night, the Crime Branch had seized spurious medicines worth Rs 24 lakh and sealed a factory in Faridabad, where the gang used to manufacture fake medicines on demand. Spurious medicines were recovered in large quantities.
