Twenty-seven-year-old carpenter Deepak Kumar, his wife Renu and their children —Rishabh (5) and Veeru (3) — fell on a concrete slab below. The motorcycle got entangled into the railing.

The mishap took place around 2.15 pm when Deepak’s bike crashed into the side verge. On impact, the four were flung over the three-feet high railing.

A few hours later, another motorcyclist was killed on the same stretch in an almost identical fashion.

The 25-foot high flyover is accident-prone. In July last year, two bikers fell off the flyover while negotiating a sharp bend.

Eyewitnesses told the police that Kumar was speeding and lost control of the motorcycle. Locals rushed the family to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where the two children were declared brought dead.

Police said motorcyclists tend to speed on the accident-prone flyover. “The width of the carriageway is narrow in the middle and is marked by several sharp bends. Motorcyclists often crash into the side verge and fall down,” said a senior police officer.
