Almost the entire furniture, furnishings and electronic equipment like computers, photo copiers, television sets were destroyed in the fire last night before it could be controlled by the lone fire tender which arrived soon after a call was made.

Senior party leader Motilal Vora, who is the treasurer and also looks after administration of the party headquarters, rushed to the spot to take stock of the damage and ensure that the fire does not spread to other areas.

Party sources said the loss was being valued at over Rs five lakh. No one was injured in the fire as the media room was vacant when the fire broke out.

The renovation work of the office began on Monday and is expected to be ready in a month's time.
